How It Works

Material assessment

We inspect the existing line at the meter entry and assess its condition. For galvanized steel, we check wall thickness and internal corrosion. For older copper, we look for pitting and dezincification. For polybutylene, we note brittleness and any prior repairs.

Replacement recommendation

Not every degraded line needs immediate replacement. We give you an honest assessment — if the line has five good years left, we'll tell you. If it's failing, we'll explain why and quote the replacement.

Permit and installation

How do I know my service line needs replacing?

Low pressure, discoloured water, unexplained high water bills (a sign of slow leaking), and visible corrosion near the meter are the main indicators. We'll inspect it for free and give you a straight answer.

Is copper or PEX better for a new service line?

Both are excellent. Copper has a longer track record and is the preferred material for properties in areas with acidic soil. PEX is flexible, resistant to freezing, and can run in a continuous length without fittings — ideal for trenchless installations. We'll recommend the right material for your site.

Does galvanized steel pipe contain lead?

Not inherently — but old galvanized pipe that was installed downstream of a lead service line may have accumulated lead deposits on its interior walls. Galvanized pipe acts as a trap for lead particles shed by upstream lead sections. It's a secondary lead risk that often gets overlooked.

What if only part of the line is deteriorated?

Spot repairs are sometimes possible for isolated breaks, but most service line failures are a sign of widespread internal corrosion. We'll tell you honestly whether a partial repair makes sense or whether a full replacement is the better long-term investment.
